DiveMaster

I returned to diving in March 2008 after being away from it for almost 30 years. I became a Divemaster in March 2012 because I had such a good experience with my dive group I wanted to be able to help others enjoy the thrill of the challenge as well.

SpaceGertie Griffith

MSDT Instructor

I started diving in May of 2002. I was the…worst…student…ever. I cried in the pool and I hyperventilated in open water. I truly believe that I passed for two reasons – (a) my pool instructor had the patience of a saint and (b) I had the best dive master in open water.
As soon as I finished my course, I signed on for a dive trip to Roatan and I have never looked back.  I have met the most interesting people, I have travelled to exciting places and I have pushed myself to limits that I didn’t know I was capable of.  And interestingly enough…I have been having a great time while I was doing it.

Each course you take will make you a more confident diver.  Each time you dive in a new environment, your skills will become stronger. Never stop learning. Try to think outside the box. Who would have ever thought that I would dive with leopard seals in Antarctica or Spanish dancers in the Red Sea?  Who ever thought I would go on to become a Master Scuba Diver Trainer?  Just try and keep up kids.

SpaceBill Hall

Master Instructor

Bill began diving in the early 1990's and has been teaching at the Dive Shop since 1998. He enjoys travel and photography and has been able to combine his interests at many exotic dive locations. Bill is also author of the local diving guide book "Southern Alberta Diving".

SpaceLarry Holling

Master Instructor & Tec Rec Instructor

I went with a buddy to do a discover Scuba and when we were done I was hooked. I was certified in July of 2000 and have been doing around a hundred dives a year ever since. I completed my Dive Master in February of 2002 and then my Open Water Instructor in November of 2002. I am currently completing my Staff Instructor level through the Dive Shop with Rob & September. My family and I travel around the world to different locations just to go on dive vacations. One of my favorite types of diving is Wreck diving.

SpaceSean Langen

MSDT Instructor

I started diving in the spring of 2007, I wanted to try something new and exciting and ended up finding much more then I thought I would! Getting into the gear during our first pool session I had the biggest grin on my face and when we dropped underwater and I took that first breath I knew I hooked!
I became a divemaster in December of 2008 and after accomplishing that task I knew it was time to make this a career and go for my instructor rating.
As the youngest Instructor in Calgary, I love watching people take that first step into a new world and realize that there is nothing else like it. Diving isn't just a sport, it's a lifestyle... Are you ready to take the challenge?

SpaceSeptember Mills

Course Director

Has been a dive professional since 2003. Loves to teach new divers and kids in her seal camps.

SpaceRob Mills

Course Director

I started diving in 1999 and haven't been dry since. Enjoy all types of diving but prefer cold water and technical.

SpaceBill Morgan

Master Scuba Diver Trainer

I started scuba diving in early 2006 when my wife decided that the family should take lessons at The Dive Shop before going on a Caribbean trip. Ironically, I had absolutely no interest in doing it. However, once we were OW certified and I’d had a couple more dives in Two Jake Lake I was hooked!

Our family’s passion for scuba diving has introduced us to a large circle of great friends and taken us to places we might not have otherwise visited. We have travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean, the west coast including Vancouver Island and San Diego, and to the Pacific islands of Kauai’i, Hawaii, and Fiji. I’ve even done some dives in the St. Lawrence.

Although travelling to the tropics is fun, the local diving can be outstanding and there are always lots of opportunities within a couple of hours of Calgary.

Of all the diving I’ve done, my most memorable dives have been to Norris Rocks on the southern tip of Hornby Island in British Columbia to dive with sea lions and on the HMCS Saskatchewan off of Naniamo.

As an Instructor, I really enjoy interacting with students and new divers. I still get a great charge out of conducting basic snorkeling and skin diving classes with students who have never done either before.

Rene Querido

MSDT Instructor

Rene has been diving since 1993. He started out in Nanoose Bay and Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island and enjoyed the best cold-water diving the world has to offer for his first 8 years. He came to The Dive Shop in 2001 and has been teaching since 2002. "There's nothing more satisfying, as an instructor, than helping the saucers turn to smiles." He enjoys underwater navigation and loves teaching it. Rene’s favorite sort of diving is, by far, night diving but if you look really carefully, you may find him inside a shipwreck or two, as well. He's one of the best at sniffing out the best places for a surface interval and "the hat" is known throughout the Bow Valley's pub's and night spots, thanks to his "Extreme Weekends". Keep an eye out for them on the "Upcoming Events" board at the shop. "Safe Diving, Gang. See you out there. Ren."

SpaceRobyn Yaremchuk

Open Water Instructor

I have always wanted to dive ever since I can remember, so when I moved to Victoria in 1980 the first thing I did was get certified as a NAUI Open Water Diver. Eventually, I discovered PADI and by 1988 I became a Divemaster. I love cold water diving with its abundance of life and I have logged dives all over Vancouver Island, including the breathtaking Browning Passage, Nakwakto Rapids and many other fantastic dive sites near Port Hardy. I also enjoy sharing the love of diving with others so assisting with classes was the natural next step. In March 2012, my husband Scot encouraged me to take my instructor course and I am now a certified Scuba Instructor. I am excited at the opportunity to teach at The Dive Shop, to share my love of diving and the wonderful underwater world that God created for us to explore as well as expand my own horizons by taking some specialties such as ice diving. Through teaching I hope to inspire others and be inspired.
